Yoga
tagline
Thousands of years ago yogis weren't interested in mastering their splits, the aim of yoga was (and is) Samadhi, or bliss.
Academic research tells us these yogis lived in a time when they questioned what leaders in society were doing and were searching for a way to encourage people to be kinder to each other (sound familiar!). For thousands of years there were very few poses and the idea was to expel energy from the body to sit comfortably in meditation for extended periods.
It's only in the last 150 years that the physical practice of yoga as we know it today evolved - vinyasa, dynamic flow, yin, restorative and group classes. What were they doing before that? Studying philosophy, mastering themselves through svadhyaya (self-study) and usually learning one to one from a guru.
While we don't presume to call ourselves gurus, but we are passionate about coaching and guiding students through inner transformation using yoga philosophy. Working with chakra, klesha, gunas, koshas, and more to understand ourselves at a deeper level.

Sometimes we don't need to intellectually understand or know a reason why - movement and stillness can help us to process and release emotions and tension stored in the body by regulating the nervous system - hacking the mind via the body.
At afterglow, we offer small group and one to one sessions, tailoring teaching to who is in the room and work directly with what's showing up on any given day.
